Salt dough is great fun! The boys loved getting their fingers in the dough.
First we traced the outline of England on the board. Then we filled it in with the dough.

How exciting it was to actually attend a real tournament! It was a great immersion day.
There were fun booths set up, where we we able to do activities from Medieval Times.

We had a family birthday party for our son on Saturday. This is the gift he got from his dad:
He wrote, "I got a compound bow. My dad has to do it with me outside. It is really fun. My dad helps me do it."
"Only one time I hit the bullseye, but it made no hole. I also got an indoor one. I call it a long bow. My favorite was my compound bow."
We went to a fall family festival in the Old Town by our house. As we were walking around, my son started pointing out kids with Robin Hood hats. Then we found the booth that was giving hats away, and giving each child a try with a long bow. We were surprised that he went right up to shoot the bow and arrow. They let him shoot three arrows. He loved it!

There were ponies, too. He was so excited we let him ride. He wanted the black horse. I thought it was great that it was the weekend before I planned to teach about noble steeds.
We really enjoyed seeing the post about Amanda coming as King John and sealing the Magna Carta. The kids wanted to do that, too.
We wrote out MAGNA CARTA in an Old English font on the computer and copied it to the top of our papers. We just wanted a place to put the wax seal. But my son, not seeing that it was in the Inquiries, came up with the brilliant idea of making a list of our own ten rules. He wanted us to each have our own separate Magna Carta. It was pretty cute.

Our visit to Stonehenge of Utah
We went here for an enjoyable afternoon. We were blessed with some beautiful sunshine that warmed up the day. There was a sign that said not to climb on the stones, otherwise we'd have been all over them! It was so neat to go to this Stonehenge replica. The boys were excited because we had watched a documentary and read a book about it.

I don't get to draw like this very often anymore! It was fun!
You can see the size of this scaled-down Stonehenge. When I've driven by it before, I just thought it was so random and strange that someone would built it. Now, I'm so glad they did! (It's in front of a healing clinic called Stonehenge of Utah.)

It had to be rebuilt a few times, when a two-year-old giant trampled on it!
By now, you've already seen the Robin Hood capes we made together. I also made a capelet, sweater, and hat for the baby. The quivers double as trick-or-treat bags. The faux arrows (made with real feathers and dowels) are glued inside the quivers.
Targets are the new thing to tape on the walls now!
The boys have been collecting rubber bands, and storing them on their wrists.
Friends were coming over to play one Friday. The boys planned ahead of time to do an archery tournament with them. Each child got a chance to shoot the targets. They had brownies as a treat. Our original plan was to make pinwheel cookies, (they look like targets!), but we didn't have enough butter. Sometime's it's the thought that counts!
We visited Robin Hood's home.
He explained archery and showed us different bows and arrows.
After the explanation, each child or Mom was able to shoot arrows as many times as they wished. And yes, that's a Greek Temple! (From last year's EPIC Adventure!)
