It's Merry Olde England, so it didn't feel like the topic would be complete without trying fish and chips.
I took the kids to the local "OC FishNChips" for lunch today. (They have $3 lunch specials). I am not sure, but the decline of the British Empire may be directly linked to the introduction of fish and chips to England! While the first couple of bites were delicious, we were ready to swear off fried foods and check into the hospital for bypass surgery by the end. None the less, it was a fun experience and very "English".
Bangers and Mash with Onion gravy.
(No, these are not the ones I made)
This site has lots of great ideas for traditional English foods. My husband's family still enjoys beans on buttered toast, canned tomatoes, and kipper snacks for breakfast (though not always at the same time):
Happy British Eating!!
