Hi Again Everyone,
Just a few snaps to share from our time with Albert Einstein and Leonardo Da Vinci. (xxx) loves to complete the biographical mind maps which, now that we have a few, we are making into a coffee table book that people can look through when they come to visit to see what the DC are up to.
I've chosen the inquiries that the children liked the most to include on the blog or I would be here all day!
(xxx) loved the experiment we did with the balloon to show that the universe is curved. She drew dots on her balloon(with the help of (xxx)) and then chose one of the dots to be the Milky way. She then pretended to be a spaceship and drew a line around the balloon showing that if a spaceship flew straight from the Milky way and didn't stop it would end up back at the Milky way because of the curve.
(xxx) loved making analogies and really enjoyed the waves, particles and photons experiment. For our experiment we used a glass, water (waves), sugar cubes (particles) and sugar (photons)
The DC had to "dissect" hearts to find the key points for Leonardo. It was tricky for us with this topic as my DD can not stand to talk about her insides! If you talk about blood in front of her she becomes very pale and feels like passing out!
She did get to the point were she helped us put "Larry" our models insides back in though, so Leonardo helped us a lot!!
We also discovered that "brainpop" has a great little movie the kids can watch on line. (xxx) loved it. My DC watched the Leonardo one together then (xxx) watched some on the various systems in the body.
The DC went outside and collected lots of things to draw and they did a great job! (xxx) found a dead moth which they both found fascinating to draw.
And as I said before the dc putting Larry back together....
With heart in hand!!!
And Larry is complete once more.
We are having a wonderful time on our adventure I wish I could write more and add more pictures but I must get off the computer now!
I couldn't resist adding this last picture. (xxx) went to the museum with her Dad today to see a special baby dinosaur display. When they had finished there they went for a look around and (xxx) found this spider and said, " imagine sketching this in my notebook!"
We spoke a lot about the theories behind who is the Mona Lisa! Some say it is actually a self portrait! What do others, think is she smiling or is she sad?
Happy Adventuring
