It seems like ages ago now, but I wanted to share the inquiry work we did about making coins. We used 'fimo' to make the 'plates' from which we would mint our coins out of clay. The air dry clay did stick a bit to the fimo plates but we did get double sided coins by using a jam-jar lid for the base plate & a 2 pence or 1 pence coin as the top plate (with the fimo impression on both top & bottom plate). The children made designs using tiny cookie cutters and other tools & tried to use simple pictures to represent their interests e.g. (xxx) made a sword and a saw (for wood work), (xxx) a christian fish (ICTHUS), (xxx) flowers & hearts etc. Well, I've done all the typing first so I don't have to fiddle about with the text/photo issue that I keep having. Haha.
