Hi, my name is Kim Harper, Lisa's friend. I have two daughters (xxx) I have been married for 18 years. We live in Canton, Michigan.
As does Lisa, I have many pets too. Lisa thinks she lives in a zoo, but I actually do. I have 3 exotic lizards, 1 Russian tortoise, 4 Zebra Finches, 2 labs, and 2 hamsters. I am already living an epic adventure!
I have waited 3 1/2 years of homeschooling to find a friend that would actually do a unit study with me. So when Lisa brought this one to my attention I was more than willing to jump on board with her. Our opening visitor was so much fun, as was the art institute. However, making all the books and binders has been an incredible amount of fun, as well as decorating a corner of our living room to make a reference center.
I shared with Karen that, rather than making t-shirts for all 7 girls, which they wouldn't wear, I would make them something special. I have a purse making business and thought it would be a great idea to make them all Renaissance bags to carry all their binders and school supplies in. Not only will they have somewhat of a Renaissance appearance to them, but I am trying to personalize each bag for each girl that will be receiving it. I have had so much fun in my studio just laughing, and giggling, and squealing all to myself as the bags begin to unfold. I can hardly wait to present them to the girls.
To start off our first week we are planning a Renaissance feast. We will all be dressed in Renaissance costumes, we will serve roasted turkey, parsley potatoes, a hunk of cheese and a hunk of bread. After dinner we will be visited by the Witty Wizard and his "apprentice" for the dissection of our brain. We will then head to our respective houses and begin our teaching on Monday morning. We are so excited to begin.
I look forward to hearing from all the other families around the globe that will be joining us on this adventure. Have a great trip.
